چکیده

The collaborative federal–provincial Southern Indian Lake project in north-central Manitoba covered an area of more than 3500 km 2 the Trans-Hudson orogen. Regional-scale geological mapping, sampling, and lithogeochemical, isotopic, geochronological studies resulted identification distinct assemblages supracrustal rocks varied episodes plutonism. A granodiorite gneiss dated at ca. 2520 Ma is interpreted to represent basement domain considered a separate crustal domain, named Partridge Breast block. Churchill River assemblage composed juvenile pillow basalt with intervening clastic sedimentary rocks, possibly reflection plume magmatism related initial rifting Hearne craton margin. Pukatawakan Bay consists mainly massive pillowed, metabasaltic associated basinal metasedimentary rocks. dominated by continental-arc volcanic volcaniclastic Strawberry Island assemblage, consisting arenite polymictic conglomerate, have been deposited foreland-basin basin or intra-orogen pull-apart environment. Whyme characterized fluvial-alluvial orogenic sediments temporally linked Sickle Group Lynn greenstone belt. Granitoid dominantly monzogranite granodiorite, range age from 1890 1830 occur throughout intermediate mafic intrusions similar ages are also present. In this paper, we integrate these new data into tectonic framework for orogen Manitoba.

Orogen response to changes in climatic and tectonic forcing

Despite much progress, many questions remain regarding the potential dynamic coupling between atmospheric and lithospheric processes in the long-term evolution of mountain belts. As a complement to recent efforts to discover the interrelationships among climate, topography, erosion, and rock deformation under conditions of mass-flux steady state, we explore orogen response to changes in climate...

Absent anisotropy: The paradox of the Southern Alps orogen

[1] A high resolution active source dataset recorded across the Southern Alps of New Zealand displays unusually strong S-wave phases, which show minimal shear wave splitting. A suite of methods was used to analyse the data to minimize the uncertainty in the anisotropy measurements. We use the Silver and Chan [1991] method, cross correlation of stacked data, and deconvolution in combination with...
